While raiding in WoW, tension was high because people kept foolishly standing in the fire. When I AFK’d to get more coffee, my 4 yr old got on vent and sung “You are my Sunshine” to the group. When I came back, they were all singing along with her. The rest of the run went much better. IMMD

All these acronyms were explained to me…and IMMD.
That is so cute i wish i was raiding with you to hear that, it defiantly would have made my day. People just don’t pay attention anymore.
You have a 4 year old daughter, but wasste time playing WoW?? Seriously, get your act together.
What are you doing on the internet? Get off right now. You could be spending time with your mother or children or you wife. Get off, now. Go!
Looks to me like she IS the wife…the name is “Gamermom” and quit being such a troll!
I think xnamkcor was telling JON to get oline and go spend time with whomever, sarcastically b/c apparently mother’s, in HIS view, can’t play WoW
Well, if they AFK in the middle of a raid, they sure can’t :p
Anyone else notice that saying the troll’s last name slowly sounds like S-O-B?
By God, it does!
Your guild doesn’t allow any AFKs at all during those 4 hours? Wow. That really sucks. I guess none of them have lives.
In some states you can be a wife and have a wife.
Parents aren’t allowed to have a hobby?
obvious troll is obvious
Irony.
One of the best players I knew in WoW was a terrific father who never put the game over the children. You can raise children and have a life, you know.
Sorry, but playing WoW definitely does NOT constitute having a “life”. I used to think that it did and now that I’ve quit I see that I threw away many many many many hours of my life.
because, you know, dictating how a person should or should not spend their free time doesn’t make you an ignoramus or anything. I don’t see the difference in doing this, watching tv, or sitting and reading IMMD in your recreational time if that’s what you ENJOY DOING.
Kills me how half the people that bitch about WoW are probably more brainless than people who play it.
Are you not allowed to play any video games or read any books too? That’s also a waste of time. Also don’t watch TV or movies.
I have to agree though… I wasted many many hours on WoW, that I could have spent on Oblivion. *le sigh*
We have a lot in common.
You say you wasted that time. I dare say you quite enjoyed playing, so why do you find it wasting time if you had fun?
It’s all about how important things are to you. I play WoW casually. I’m in a guild that is perfectly fine with members like me who only log on once a week or so for 3 hours. It’s not that different from spending an evening playing card or board games, or going to see a movie with a group of friends, except these friends are people who live in another state who I would normally only be able to interact with every year or so when they came to town to visit. But I can log in and voice chat with them for a while as we play a fun game together. If the game ever stops being fun, I find something else to do. But so far, going slowly like I do, there is always something new to do, and even repeating things is fun if I’m hanging out with friends while doing it.
You WoW friends are pedos.
That’s the song I was singing! (‘Your friends are pedos’, sung to the tune of ‘You are My Sunshine’…)
Reading your IMMD made my day.
That rocks!! Amazing what a little “sunshine” can accomplish! Game on!
Its not that bad, one can pay attention to the kids and have Wow as the “me time” without abandoning everything.I know many people, myself included, who play as a family and still have lives
As do I! The majority of the playerbase is pretty casual, and the stereotypes (the antisocial basement-dwelling neckbeard, etc) are very much the minority.
It’s just like any hobby that requires moderation, but can exist perfectly fine alongside a ‘real life’ and familial obligations.
I’ve known quite a few raiders whose kids love to hang out watch them raid, and many find a way to let their kid participate, even (without endangering the raid).
This is great – especially the mom part. My whole family plays, since we all live very far apart. It’s something fun for us to do together. Yes, even my mother of 4 grown children. This made my day.
Half of my GuildWars guild is family, I mostly started playing it because it was a chance to do something with them even though they live 150+ miles away.
1) Your daughter is incredible, and wins an internet.
2) Your WoW mates are incredible, and win another internet.
3) Trolls are not incredible and win a massive FAIL cookie.
IAWTC. We could have used a rendition of “You are my sunshine,” last night during achievement runs. Let me tell you, Internets, it’s hard to do some of the heroic achievements, even with an amazing group.
Yep, your IMMD made my day. The cutest post ever!!
“While raiding in WoW, tension was high”
does not compute.
When stupid people do stupid shit and its your bazillionth attempt on a boss it gets stressful.
we’re still talking about a computer game, right?
Yeah, you ever played one?
Yes, but wow sucks you in because you *need* to get that boss or you *need* to farm for 8 hours so your alchemist can make flasks for the raid tonight which will take another 4-6 hours… Definitly not worth, it wowdetox.com is awesome tho
It’s not need, it’s more like really want. WoW is way more fun than sitting on a couch watching tv, and that’s why people play it. Quit trolling.
Awww! Looks like that little darling is the ultimate tension reliever! I bet the other people online really needed that boost of silliness and sunshine that your daughter gave them too! That is so sweet!
The world would be a better place if we gave everyone one of those old boxes of 64 crayons (the ones with the built-in “sharpener”).
That’s what Robert Fulghum says. I agree
would this sharpener work?
LOL KIDS SONGS FOR THE WIN!!!
I can only imagine the other raiders going “WTF? Awww… Oh well lets all sing” lol
Never fails, Kids DO do the darnedest things
D’AWWWW! You can’t help but smile….
WoW moms unite! <3
That was adorable, and def. MMD too =)
Woot Woot! Im a Wow Mom too
WoW daughter here! Mum and i go raiding all the time. This MMD.
Me too! My guildies are super great about being understanding of that.
what I noticed is that a lot of people posting here seem to have 4-year-olds. look at the last few posts about kids. they’re all 4.
it’s a conspiracy.
I’m an Aion mom and your IMMD made my day too.
I played aion a fair bit before quitting, got to lvl 24 on my chanter then I had to quit because school started and I go to the #1 open enrollment school in the US and as u can guess it is really tough… I might reactivate my account over the summer but I’ll probly stick to league of legends
My husband had to explain to me what “standing in the fire” meant. IMMD.
But, isn’t the fire a crit buff????
hmm.. in my experience fire gives hp
Your kid reminds me of the 6yo grand-daughter of one of my guildies back when I played wow. She used to jump on vent to wish us luck and remind the “gosh darn dopey rogue” to behave before she went to bed.
LOL..I love your post as well.
The only thing better than encouragement from a guildmate’s kid is encouragement from a guildmate’s mother. Ah, how I miss those idyllic days in BWL….
Wow, I’m amazed. Usually, anything to do with gaming has been dawned on by trolls by the third comment.
Good to see we aren’t all absolutely retarded.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this happened on our raid.. But since all our guildmates keep their kids pretty well in check, I usually end up singing to the guild instead
Awe, I couldn’t help but smile when I read this :3
That’s amazing.
People who do NOT game will never understand it. Some of my best friends I met on Everquest and we moved to Warcraft together..10 years of gaming and friendship..I cannot get my gf to play WoW but she allows me to get my NeRd time in so I we are both happy.
I game a lot (I’ve been playing league of legends and left for dead 2 recently) and don’t understand why people play wow. I’ve played it a lot before and was the 6th best DK tank on my server gear-wise (before you could get more than iLvl 200 stuff from heroic badges) when I quit (about a week after ToC was released). I haven’t missed it at all and I cut back on my game time by about 75%. Why would you spend all that time farming levels/gold/herbs/gems/ore/rep/whatever else for a couple hours of fun(and possibly frustration) with friends and sometimes people u don’t even like when you could play a FPS or RTS/whatever LoL qualifies as and not have to farm for hours or deal with people you don’t like to get better gear. Wowdetox.com helped a lot of people I know quit
one of our main tanks has a 6 year old son that occasionally plays a rogue on his second account. his son has raided with us (on past content) and is a better player than some of our adult, core raiders.
Miss raiding with you Kaylea!
Funny thing about one of our wow mum’s is that she canceled a nights raid (the day before) saying “Can’t make it, will be having a baby”
Sedd FTW
If you forget the lyrics, 50 dkp MINUS!
This is the 2nd thing that I have seen thats been copied -.-(not at you)
