My 12 year old daughter ran up to me with her iPod. She put one earbud in each nostril, cranked up some tunes and the music came out of her mouth. Then she opened and shut her mouth making it seem like the music was going on and off. IMMD!

  10. sierraseven says:

Uh, not to be Captain Bringdown, but having an iPod turned up that loud will cause PERMANENT hearing loss. You might not notice it right away – but it adds up over your lifetime, and it does not come back.

    • Lollerskates says:

What does it matter if it’s up their nose?
Eardrums are in the ear canal, I don’t think the sound going through the Eustachian tubes from the nostrils would seriously rupture the tympanic membrane or ossicles.
(no I’m not trying to sound like a snob, but my Human Bio exam was last week)

      • Mental Mouse says:

The damage would be to the hair cells in your cochlea. *Not* the same as getting your eardrums blown out by a shock wave or pressure change! And yeah, the damage is (usually) subtle, but permanent and cumulative.

    • MLD says:

And of course your eardrums are accessible via your nose or mouth…

      Oh wait.

  29. ichigoxringo says:

my nostrils are too small. the head phones only went in halfway, so you could still hear it.
but when I opened my mouth, it was actually louder.
    but not by much.
